Kevin’s Journey at Salt Sep
Kevin joined the Salt Sep team in November 2023, as part of the Procurement department, bringing with him extensive experience in procurement. Through his dedication and hard work, he has earnt the role of Procurement Team Leader. During his time here, he has participated in a leadership development course and has achieved a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
Kevin has dedicated his career to procurement, previously holding positions at various companies while living in Norwich, including Astron, where he served as Procurement Team Leader and later Head of Category. He has also worked at 3M, focusing on secure printing solutions such as passports and ID cards, as well as Belman and Office Depot. After relocating to Rochdale, he worked as Head of Packaging at Tetrasyl and then at Taylor Engineering and Plastics Limited before joining Salt Sep.
Why Kevin Enjoys Working at Salt Sep
Kevin thrives on the challenge his role presents, relishing in the complexities of his work. He appreciates that Salt Sep operates in a niche market with significant potential. Building strong relationships with his colleagues is important to him, and he enjoys the collaborative atmosphere within the workplace. Kevin believes Salt Sep is an excellent place to work and that the company genuinely cares for its employees. He feels that his greatest achievements are still ahead of him, viewing his career as a continuous journey filled with small victories.
What a Typical Day is Like for Kevin
Kevin’s day is as dynamic as his role. He manages bulk orders with suppliers, handles part creation, sets up new suppliers and addresses queries from various departments. He works closely with the finance department to resolve invoice issues and takes the time to connect with at least three suppliers daily, whether to solve problems, negotiate prices or explore new opportunities. Kevin is also responsible for placing orders for general office supplies and ensuring we manage our spending wisely. His role involves creating a solid infrastructure for ordering and establishing supplier agreements. Through his work, Kevin has developed patience, a level-headed approach, and a knack for strategic thinking, often asking himself “What if?”.
What Kevin Does in his Free Time
Outside of work, Kevin loves to explore new destinations both in the UK and around the world, with Mexico and Panama being among his favourites. He also enjoys attending live events, particularly tribute bands and soaking up the lively atmosphere.
