Darren’s SaltSep Journey
Darren joined SaltSep in March 2024 as an Aftersales Consultant, after spending 40 years in the Vehicle service and repair industry.
He first discovered SaltSep on LinkedIn after seeing a post about reverse osmosis, something that sparked his interest after remembering learning about it at school. That curiosity led him to explore the business further, where he spotted an open role and decided to apply.
During the interview process, SaltSep’s core values stood out to Darren, although he admits he initially worried that, at his age, the business might not invest time into his development. That concern was quickly put to rest.
What Darren Enjoys About Working at SaltSep
Darren loves that he is constantly learning something new. He values being able to ask questions without ever feeling belittled and appreciates the guidance and support he receives from colleagues across the business.
The family feel at SaltSep is something Darren speaks highly of, alongside the strong focus on wellbeing and mental health. Regular check-ins and one-to-ones mean people take the time to support one another, whether work related or personal.
Darren also enjoys the social side of the business, the trust placed in him and of course, the satisfaction of receiving positive feedback from customers. And as a bonus? Half days on Fridays don’t hurt either.

“I’m gutted that I found SaltSep at 55 – I just wish I found it when I was younger.”
What a Typical Day Looks Like for Darren
Darren’s role is varied and customer focused. His day typically involves identifying components for customers, checking availability, preparing quotes and processing orders. He also liaises closely with suppliers, chases orders and keeps communication open with manufacturers to ensure customers receive a smooth, reliable service. Much of his work supports defence contracts, where Darren values the trust and responsibility that comes with the role.
What Darren Does Outside of Work
When he’s not at work, Darren enjoys staying active through running. He also loves walking, travelling when possible, socialising and spending quality time with his family and grandkids.
