Khalid’s SaltSep Journey
Khalid joined SaltSep in 2018, starting out as a workshop labourer. Through hard work and experience, he moved into the role of workshop specialist before stepping into his current role as a Service Engineering Specialist. Alongside his work, he completed his HNC in Engineering, which expanded his technical knowledge and confidence in the field.
One of Khalid’s proudest achievements so far was helping to install a six-module reverse osmosis system in Cádiz.
Before joining SaltSep, Khalid built his foundations in engineering by working with carbon fibre components used in the automotive, aviation and sports industries. He also holds a Level 2 City and Guilds qualification in electrical installation.
What Khalid Enjoys about Working at SaltSep
“I enjoy the opportunities to challenge myself and solve problems, whether that’s on site or back in the workshop”.
He appreciates the variety his job offers and the fact that no two days are the same. Since joining SaltSep, Khalid has developed his knowledge through training and practical experience. His HNC qualification helped him deepen his understanding of engineering processes and grow from a workshop fitter into a skilled Service Engineering Specialist.
What a Typical Day looks like for Khalid
When working in house, Khalid can usually be found in the test bay. Here, he tests and calibrates equipment to make sure it’s ready to send to the customer or for service engineers on site to receive them. Some days, it’s a straightforward task like checking a pressure gauge. On others, it’s more complex, such as stripping down and inspecting high-pressure pumps. Travel is also a big part of his role. In fact, Khalid spends around 65% of the year visiting customer sites to service and install equipment.
What Khalid does in his free time
Khalid likes to start his mornings early with a gym session before heading to work. His weekends are usually spent with family and friends, often taking his son to football matches or visiting Old Trafford to watch Manchester United. He’s also a big music fan and recently enjoyed a trip to Belfast with his wife to see Sam Fender.
Khalid is an important part of our team, helping us deliver reliable service and support to customers worldwide. Discover more of the people who make SaltSep what it is, click here to meet the team.
