Latisha’s SaltSep Journey
Latisha joined SaltSep straight from school in September 2025 as part of our apprenticeship programme, SaltSep Academy, starting her career with us at just 16 years old.
As part of the programme, Latisha rotates through a range of departments across the business, spending a month in each area including Design, Projects, Sales, Aftersales, Health & Safety and the Warehouse. This rotation allows her to understand the full project lifecycle, starting in office-based departments before moving into the assembly and fabrication workshops in the second part of the programme, where she’ll have the opportunity to bring her project to life.
What Latisha Enjoys About Working at SaltSep
Latisha enjoys the close-knit nature of SaltSep the team and the way everyone works together to support one another. Since starting her apprenticeship, she feels her confidence and people skills have grown significantly, helping her to really come out of her shell.
So far, her favourite department has been Design, where she created the drawing for the training cube that she will later build when she moves onto the shop floor.
Being part of SaltSep Academy has also given Latisha valuable insight into the wide range of roles available within the engineering industry, helping her realise that engineering careers extend far beyond the workshop environment.
What a Typical Day Looks Like for Latisha
Latisha is supported by her apprentice leader, who allocates tasks depending on the department she’s working in at the time. Her work so far has included contacting suppliers for quotes, updating health & safety posters and working closely with different teams across the business. These tasks help her build practical skills while developing a broad understanding of how SaltSep operates day to day.
What Latisha Does Outside of Work
Outside of work, Latisha enjoys playing football with her friends.
