Nicola’s Salt Sep journey
Nicola has been a part of the Salt Sep family for over 20 years, starting with us when she was just 17. Back then, she joined us part-time while juggling college and university. During her time at university, Nicola earned a Bachelor of Science with honours in physics from UMIST, all while working jobs in the hospitality sector. Fast forward to today, Nicola has grown with us, taking on roles like office administrator, technical secretary, process technician (service engineer) and sales coordinator. She’s worn many hats here and each one has helped her become the fantastic After Sales team leader she is now. Along the way, Nicola has also earned qualifications, including the Manufacturers Alliance Team Leader course and NEBOSH, and is currently diving into a Project Fundamentals qualification.
What Nicola likes about working at Salt Sep
For Nicola, the best part of working as Salt Sep is the supportive and friendly working relationships within the After Sales team. Everyone is always ready to help each other out, which not only strengthens the team but also makes the workday more enjoyable. As a team leader, Nicola takes pride in helping her team grow and thrive. Over the years, she has gained confidence in her abilities, especially when it comes to delegating tasks, and has developed a deep understanding of the water treatment industry. Her experience working in different teams has provided her with insights into the challenges each one faces, allowing her to support them even more effectively.
What a typical day is like for Nicola
Every day at Salt Sep is rather different for Nicola! She might spend her day in meetings, working closely with other teams, processing orders, helping customers with queries or providing technical support. With the variety of requests the After Sales team handles, no two days are the same, which keeps things interesting – especially since Nicola’s role is focused on defence contracts.
What Nicola does in her free time
When she’s not at work, Nicola is busy spending time with her three boys and their adorable puppy. She is also committed to staying active and starts every day with a workout to get her in the right headspace for the day ahead. And when she gets a moment to herself, you’ll often find her curled up with a good fiction book particularly of the romance or psychological thriller genres.
