Emily’s Salt Sep journey
Emily is one of the newest members of the Salt Sep senior leadership team, having recently joined as Head of People. Her journey before Salt Sep has been anything but ordinary! Emily’s love for music took her to Edinburgh University, where she studied her passion. She even spent a year at the University of British Columbia in Canada, further pursuing her love of music. Afterward, Emily spent 10 years in the armed forces as a military musician, where she also earned a law degree. Following her military service, she transitioned into a career in HR, most recently working for tech companies.
What Emily likes about working at Salt Sep
Emily absolutely loves the diverse and welcoming environment at Salt Sep. She enjoys seeing how different roles come together to bring projects from the design stage to reality. Being part of a growing, family-run business in the Northwest is something she truly values, especially since the company is tackling one of the biggest challenges of the next decade. Building trust with her colleagues has been a highlight for Emily, and she’s excited to develop her skills further to help the company grow into the future. Plus, the warm welcome from the team has made her feel right at home!
What a typical day is like for Emily
Emily’s day starts nice and early at 8am, greeting everyone and catching up with the team. Her main focus is getting to know the challenges that people face and finding ways to help. While there’s some paperwork to handle, her priority is always the people and ensuring everyone feels supported.
What Emily does in her free time
Outside of work, Emily loves to stay active and spend time with her family, especially her two little boys who keep her busy. She’s also busy working towards her postgraduate diploma in HR (CIPD Level 7) and even finds time to run a cub pack.
